Oh Dickey, my hearts is broken to read this. After all these years you are still in my head as a dear friend and again thank you for your friendship and love. Farewell, and good luck beyond.
Still see your apartment on Pennsylvania Ave. where we had many meals that you prepared and the many christmas cards that you made and send to the people.

'HARK' now my friend you shall never be forgotten

My wife Jill and I worked with Dick on the Histories of Newark: 1758 - 2008. He was a great resource for information about the early days of the formation of our city and fun to work with.

So sorry to hear of Dick's passing. He was a beloved character . . . we truly enjoyed his visits to our antique shop. The gentleman had a wealth of knowledge and our conversations were always a enlightening and humorous. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

(my message - the previous one - didn't ask for my name. Below is my name. It was the only message of condolence so far.

Dear dear Mr. Dayton was a true gentleman of the old school. I loved conversing with him as he perused our antique shop on Main St. and reminisced about the "old days" in Newark and vicinity. He had such good taste in all things. I have missed seeing him these past few years. He was a true gem.
