Sylvia Gallo Fusca
Hockessin - Sylvia Gallo Fusca passed away peacefully at her home in Hockessin, DE, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, on Friday, January 19, 2018 with her loving husband and precious sister by her side. Sylvia was born in Wilmington, DE on March 24, 1959 and graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School in 1977. After working for the Traveler's Insurance Company for a short time, she joined the DuPont Company in May of 1979 starting in the mailroom and quickly moving on to the secretarial pool. Within four months Sylvia was selected as the secretary to a director in the Agricultural Chemicals Department. She worked hard through her career, retiring after 38 years of service as the Executive Assistant to the President of Crop Protection. Sylvia was highly regarded by all who knew and worked with her. She was an avid bowler and had a penchant for nature, with a keen interest in birds. She loved flowers and meticulously maintained her gardens - her orchids were spectacular. Most of all, Sylvia was an amazing animal lover, rarely being without a pet. She leaves behind her latest companion, Lexie. Sylvia was a kind, loving, and gentle soul who will be remembered for her quiet strength and unwavering courage.
Sylvia was predeceased by her father, Francis P. Gallo and father-in-law, Joseph A. Fusca. She will be greatly missed by her adoring husband of 36 years, Anthony J. Fusca; mother, Helen Daddezio Gallo; sister, Diane Camp (Dean); nephews: Colby and Mitchell Camp, and Gary R. Howard Jr. (Jenny); mother-in-law, Ann Fusca; sister-in-law, Toni A. Howard (Gary Sr.); nieces, Susan Kwiatkowski (Dave) and Kristin M. Tomczak (Ziggy); and 7 great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 from 10:30 AM-12 Noon at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Sylvia's life at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sylvia's memory to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713. For directions or to send an online condolence visit www.stranofeeley.com

So saddened to hear of Sylvia's passing. I had the pleasure of seeing her on a daily basis from Oak Grove through Conrad. Although I have not seen Sylvia since our high school days, the realization that I will never again see her smiling face or experience her kind, sweet, gentle friendship leaves me with a void. So, I can only begin to imagine the emptiness, sadness, and hurt being felt by Anthony (whom I've never met) and Mrs. Gallo and Diane (whom I have met on a couple of occasions at your house in Vilone Village). The obituary and online condolences describe the same sweet person that I knew as a child and teenager. Silvia was truly a beautiful person inside and out. And, she was quite an athlete. She certainly provided me with more than enough competition on the tennis court!
Had I not been out of town last week, I would have paid my respect and sympathy in person. Please know that my condolences are heartfelt. I hope that the sadness being felt by Sylvia's family will soon fade and allow you to focus on fond memories.
Rest in peace, dear Sylvia. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To Sylvia's family
I had the great pleasure of visiting with Sylvia during my many trips to Wilmington from New Zealand.
Sylvia was one of those special persons you meet while doing business. The big smile the greetings and the help so graciously given. She was one of those persons who helped make DuPont Crop a special place to work.
Rest in peace Sylvia
May God bless your family

I'm so sad to learn of Sylvia's passing. She fought so hard! I had the pleasure of working with Sylvia at DuPont and will forever be grateful that I had the opportunity to work with her and become friends - she was fun, smart, hard-working, helpful, and kind. Her smile lit up the room when she walked in. Rest In Peace, dear friend. And until we meet again, may God hold you close, in the palm of His hand.
