Harry Jacob "Jack" Celli

New Castle - Harry Jacob (Jack) Celli, one of twelve children born to Abraham and Regina Celli on May 22, 1937, passed on January 25, 2021 after a short illness.

At a young age, Jack learned the importance of hard work holding various jobs to help his parents support the family. As an adult, he worked as a surveyor with DelDOT retiring after thirty-two years to start his own painting company.

In 1956, Jack married his one true love, Doris Barnes. Together they raised seven children and treasured every moment of family life. Jack's loyalty to Doris and their continuously growing family was unwavering. He loved unconditionally and worked tirelessly to provide a happy home. Jack was happiest with a house full of boisterous children, each holding a special place in his large heart.

Jack's legacy is his children, Jackie Thomas, Lorie Thomas (Lee), Diane Blakely (Bob), David (Judy), Michael, Debbie Di Angelo and Rocky (Mindy); 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brothers, Bundo and Donald; and sisters, Marie and Dolores. He will also live on in the hearts of numerous relatives and friends including his best friend, Dickie Pullan.

Donations in Jack's name may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE 19720.

Uncle Jack- We love you so much and will miss you terribly. You always had the biggest heart. You would do anything for your family and friends. You were one of my dad’s (Bud Riegel) best friends and had such a special bond. You and Aunt Doris had 63 years wonderful years of marriage, the sign of unconditional true love. I hope you are dancing up in heaven pain free and watching over all of us. Keep on smiling!

I was so sad to hear about Jack passing. I didn’t get to see him nearly enough but I loved him very much. I know he and Doris are once again together and having a party in heaven with my Mom and Dad and Bucky and the rest. I was happy to have him as a God Father.

Dear Celli family,
I grew up in Shawtown with the Celli family, and have lots of memories of them all. Jackie was truly so nice. I never saw him that he didn't say hello and always had a smile on his face. His brother Bundo was also a very good friend of my brother Frankie Covelli who passed away in 1984. All of your family were my friends growing up. I am truly sorry for your loss of Jackie. My sincere sympathy is with all you at this sad time. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Harry I will definitely miss you so much. You have always been a staple in life no matter how long ago or recent , no matter how far away I was or as close family . Your wisdom and advice to me has always reflected in myself and my children .
You’ll always be like a father to me , always Pop Pop to Amanda and Harry and Pop Pop Jack to Sophia . We all loved you and will love you forever in our days . I will think of you and the things you told me to wisen me up , be a good mother , and always take care of myself because of you . When I look at my son or hear him speak I am reminded of you , when I see that Italian spark from Amanda I will think of you . I was lucky enough to say goodbye to you and you told me to take care of myself and our Sophie and I promise

The best Godfather around. Always made me feel special. That was just his way with all. He had the heart of gold and cared so much for others. His family was his life thru and thru.... he was always there to help out no matter the challenge. I will truly miss my sweet Uncle Jack and he will always have a special place in my heart.
