Charles Klimaszewski Obituary
Newark - Charles S. Klimaszewski, Jr., "Klem", 86 of Newark passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Millcroft Senior Living Community.
Klem was born in Yorklyn, the son of the late Mary (Kozlowski) and Charles Klimaszewski. He graduated from A.I. DuPont High School and worked as a laboratory technician at the DuPont Experimental Station for 33 years. He was a former parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Wilmington and St. Dennis Church in Galena, MD.
Klem was always involved in athletics, playing baseball for Yorklyn and softball for Worthey Brothers. He was a huge UD Blue Hens sports fanatic and attended countless football, basketball and baseball games.
Klem and Laura retired to Crystal Beach Manor in Earleville, MD where they enjoyed several happy years.
Klem is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Laura (Schandel) Klimaszewski; his daughters, Janet Klimaszewski of Wilmington and Annette Klimaszewski of Dunellen, NJ; his son and daughter-in-law, David C. and Vonda Klimaszewski of Dallas, TX; his granddaughters, Riley, Violet and Phoebe and his step granddaughters, Julia and Katherine.
Funeral services and burial at All Saints Cemetery will be private. A celebration of Klem's life will be planned in the near future when family and friends can gather safely and enjoy some time together. On-line condolences may be sent to Mealeyfuneralhomes.com

Klem or Chesel, as we knew him, was a lifelong friend of my dad, Grover C. "Junie" Gregg, Jr., and he was an outstanding third baseman on my dad's Yorklyn Semi-Pro baseball team during the 1950's. I will always remember what enjoyable times Dad, Klem, and the other ballplayer/friends had at their monthly lunch at the Hunters Den during the late 1990's and early 2000's when I was lucky enough to join them and enjoy their stories.
