Mark Watson, 31, much loved son of Joan and Tony Watson of Swarthmore, died Wednesday, April 6, 2017. Mark was a SHHS graduate class of 2004. He loved drums and was in the SHHS Marching Band for 4 years. He had many talents to offer the world, but succumbed to the scourge of drug addiction that has claimed so many of our nation’s youth. He survived by his parents, his siblings Matt (Kelly), Mandy (Rich Carango), Rob (Christine), Josh (Beth), Bonnie (Ed Long), Jeff (Marianne) and 19 nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Tuesday April 11 at 11:00 AM in St. John Chrysostom Church 617 S. Providence Rd. Wallingford. Friends may call at the church on Monday April 10 from 6 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 9 to 11 AM. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations are recommended for Covenant House or City Team Ministries or similar charities of your choice.

Just started making monthly donation to Covenant House in Mark's honor. This is an incredible cause and Mark was an incredible person and friend. He will be missed and remembered, and still helping others.

Dear Joan and Tony,
I was truly sad to hear of the death of your youngest child, Mark, due to a drug overdose!
Unfortunately, we hear of this situation far too often in our world today! It is almost impossible, as a parent, to think of burying your child since it goes against the natural cycle of life. I've seen this occur several times with close friends, one of which was a situation exactly like yours.
My heart goes out to you and your family in this time of sorrow and I will keep all of you in my prayers.I pray that the Risen Christ who came to "heal the brokenhearted" will continue to hold you in the palm of His hand.

With Deepest Sympathy,
Rosie (Padovani) Toth

Mark was an amazing person. It has been hard to log into Facebook lately because of hundreds of people sharing their stories of how Mark touched their lives. An amazing, kind, talented individual.

Mark was one of the kindest people i've ever had the pleasure of knowing. He made friends and touched lives all over the country. He will especially be missed by his hundreds of friends in the philly area alone. Going to music shows just will NEVER be the same without Mark there. I hope Mark's family knows how special he was and how much he was loved unconditionally by his GD and philly music community family. We are blessed to have had him in our lives, and grateful for all the fond lasting memories that we will treasure forever. Thank you Mark. Love NFA

Mark was one of the kindest and sweetest person I have ever met. If you needed a hand, he was always ready to help. If you needed a hug, his arms were always ready for an embrace. He was a true friend indeed and he's loved by so many.

I send my sincere and deepest condolences to his family and friends for he is now one with the raging wind...

Love and light to all...

Heartbreaking. So sorry for the loss of this beautiful young man. Peace for all who loved him, and even for those who didn't even know him (like me) but who know the struggle with this disease. Sleep in peace now, young man.
