Joanne Honnen Obituary
Joanne Jody' Honnen August 16, 1933 - June 22, 2018 Rancho Santa Fe A wonderful woman and giving soul was taken from us on Friday, June 22, 2018. Joanne "Jody" was active within her community and nursing facility up until her final moments. She cared for people to a fault. This was her gift, which was mirrored by the love people held for her. She had an great eye for design, and she utilized this in her garden and her interior design practice. She passed away suddenly due to the laws of nature and Father Time. Born on August 16, 1933 as Joanne Alma Crouch in Denver, CO. She was the only child of Alma Francis and Douglas Crouch. Her formidable years were spent in Denver, where she attended East Central High School then followed up at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Jody married Robert Earle Honnen in 1953, and resided in the Cherry Hills Village area while raising their three children. They both moved to California in the early 80's where she remained until her death. She was married 42 years. Jody was active in the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club and had worked with several charitable foundations throughout the years. She recently was active in the support group: Amputees in Motion. She is survived by her three children, Steven E. Honnen, Melony Honnen Shennan and Scott E. Honnen. She was blessed with seven grandchildren (one deceased); as well as six great-grandchildren. What a gift!Per her request, a "memorial" service will be held overlooking the ocean at Seagrove Park in Del Mar, CA, on August 12, 2018, at 10:30am. A private family-only burial will follow. She loved the verse, "A kiss at the sun for Pardon, the song of the bird for mirth. One is nearer to God in the garden than anywhere else on earth." She's back in her garden now. The family requests in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club at www.rsfgardenclub.org/contact-us/.
