Betty L. Stanley
LAUREL, Del—Betty L. Stanley, 75, of Laurel departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del.
She was born Sept. 19, 1937, in Snow Hill, the daughter of the late Annie Price and Preston Timmons.
Betty was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her friendly, kind and unique personality. She was a confidante and
friend to many and "adopted" mother to most. She loved cooking and crafts. Betty was a strong and determined woman. To know her was to love her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Handy D. Stanley, Jr. of Laurel; four daughters, Linda Lee of Laurel, Ida Hitch (Greg) of Delmar, Md., Annette Stanley of Laurel, and Jeanette Smith (Anthony) of Delmar, one sister, Harriett Dennis of Baltimore, Maryland; two brothers, Kendall Price (Alice) of Berlin, and Elmer Timmons (Eunice) of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Greg Hitch, Jr. (Ja'Net) of Delmar, Michael Fooks, Jr. of Laurel, and Jasmine Smith of Delmar; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Ja'Neya, Jayda and E'Niya; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Two brothers preceded her in death, James Price and Walter Price, and one granddaughter, Genea Fooks.
There will be a viewing Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church on Mt. Herman Circle Road, Delmar, and the funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church. Friends may call one hour prior. See www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com
