Isabel C. Dryden

Crisfield—Isabel C. Dryden, 93, of Crisfield, died Monday, December 10, 2012 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke City.

Born in Crisfield on September 3, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Nina Howeth Chelton. Her husband, Norris Robert "Shug" Dryden, died in 1985.

A graduate of Crisfield High School, she helped run the family business, N.R. Dryden Seafood, which she did since 1958. Being at the business kept her going, and she especially enjoyed talking to all of the fisherman and waterman.

She attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Crisfield. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed extravagantly decorating her home and her yard for Christmas.

She is survived by two children, Marlene Dryden Adkins and Willis H. Dryden, Sr. and wife Virginia, all of Crisfield; three grandchildren, Willis H. Dryden, Jr. and wife Andrea of Marion and their children Mallory, Madison and Molly, Michelle Dryden of Crisfield and her children Nina Marie, Olivia, Shelby, and Gavin, and Nina Kaye Adkins of Crisfield and her daughter Lauren; a nephew, Bruce Chelton and wife Terri of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Dryden Rayne on June 22, 2011; and her sisters and brother, Margaret Sterling, Tom Chelton, and Grace Marshall.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Philip Morris will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be sent to Hartley Hall Nursing Home, 1006 Market Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
