Anthony D. Mattox

West Fenwick - Anthony D. Mattox, age 81, of West Fenwick, Delaware passed peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2018 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Baltimore, MD on December 9, 1936 and was the son of the late Baldwin and Alice Mattox.

Tony graduated from St. Alphonsus Catholic School, Baltimore Polytechnic High School and University of Maryland College Park, with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He worked for many years in the aerospace industry and retired in 1997 as Vice President of Business Development for Atlantic Research Corporation in Gainesville, Virginia.

Tony was an avid bridge player and fisherman (when the cards were good and the fish were biting!). He presided over numerous boards and community and condo associations. Above all, his quick wit, easy laugh, and love of good food touched the many people who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 60 plus years, Beverly; two daughters, Leanne Ruark and husband Gary of Eden, MD and Leslie Knopfler and husband Dave of Grandy, NC; a sister, Lorraine Weisengoff and husband Paul of Ocean Pines, MD and Tony's nephews, Paul, Bob and John Weisengoff.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Friday, August 10 at Sound United Methodist Church in Williamsville, DE with Pastor John Schutt officiating. Friends may call an hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sound United Methodist Church, Roof Fund, c/o Peggy Brasure, 35131 Lighthouse Road, Selbyville, DE 19975 or to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Dr., Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713.
