Bernice "Bernie" Helen Saylor

Salisbury - Bernice "Bernie" Helen Saylor, 99, of Salisbury, passed on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Born on April 3, 1921 in Riverside, NJ, she moved to Salisbury in 1993. She was the daughter of the Late Fred Frech and the late Charlotte Frech.

After graduating, Bernie attended Southern Seminary and Drexel College. She married Harlan Keim Saylor in 1942 and they raised 3 children. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, she worked as an elementary school teacher and taught sewing to adults. She worked as a travel agent for 12 years which allowed her to traveled extensively with Harlan.

Bernie was very active in the Bells Methodist Church serving as Lay Leader, United Methodist Women's President and Washington East District officer for 8 years. After moving to Salisbury, she joined Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved singing with the Ocean Bay Chapter of Sweet Adelines, volunteering at Deer's Head, and spending time with family and friends.

Bernie is survived by her son Fred C. Saylor (Tina) of Waldorf, MD, daughter Susan S. Hebert (Dennis); 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Bernie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harlan K. Saylor, her son Thomas H. Saylor, her grandson Justin Saylor and a special friend, Bob Applegate.

The family will have a private celebration of her life.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Atria Senior Living for the loving care of Bernie during her 8 years she called Atria home. It was comforting to the family to know she was loved and understood.
