Salisbury - Charles Franklin Walters 78 of Salisbury, died Friday, June 29, 2018. Born in Berlin, P.A., he was the son of the late Robert Walters and June Burkholder Baughman.

Mr. Walters was a 1958 graduate of South Hagerstown High School, where he was a member of the track and field team. He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army, where he served in the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Chuck retired from MCTC after 24 years of service to the state as a Correctional Officer. He was very active with softball teams for MCTC and St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, he also played on several bowling leagues. He loved to ride motorcycles and was a wonderful fire dancer.

He devoted his life to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charles "Chuck" F. Walters led a life of servitude by supporting many causes such as The San Mar School and Orphanage, The Joseph House Food Ministry and The Blessing House Food Ministry.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Ford Walters of Salisbury; daughters: Kellie Walters Betz and her fiancé, Donald Snuffer of Maugansville, MD, Kristal Walters Elzey and Susan Driver of Salisbury; step-children: Darin Ford and his wife Lisa of Mt. Vernon, Roy Ford and his wife Vickie of Deal Island and Paula Brown and her husband Bobby of Parsonsburg; grandchildren: Brandon Betz, Amanda Yeadt and her husband Robert, Kristina Rowe, Zachary Elzey, Jennifer Daniels, Lauren Brown and Ryan Ford; great-grandchildren: Paris Betz, Jude Betz, Brooklyn Rowe, Amberlynn Elzey, Jaxon Yeadt, Hayden Ford, Lucas Ford, Doc Daniels, Gracie Daniels, Dawson Daniels, sisters, Virginia Burk and Peg Carter of Harrisburg; half sisters, June Baughman and Jane Baughman of Hagerstown; brother in laws Ted Webster and Dickie Webster; sister-in-laws, Shirley White and Sylvia Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Mallory Weaklem, half-brother, William Baughman, step son, Chris Ford and grandparents, Nellie Long and Charles F. Burkholder.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church with visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the church. Rev. Danny Travers and Rev. Andrew Morgan will officiate. Interment will be in Wenona Cemetery.
