Etta Lee Ford Nottingham Obituary
Etta Lee Ford Nottingham

Salisbury - Etta Lee Ford Nottingham, 98, formerly of Salisbury, MD went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 30 at Crossroads Retirement Community in Asheboro, NC. Etta was born February 6, 1920, the 14th of 16 children, to Warren Pringle Ford and Etta Lee Jones Ford and was the last surviving sibling. Being raised in rural Dames Quarter, Somerset County during the Great Depression, times were difficult but Etta's determination, courage and fortitude were kindled there and served her well throughout her life. Family and friends have laughed at many of her unique country sayings which were from the experiences of her youth. Over the years Etta has cared for neighbors and family regularly and faithfully.

Previously working for Shoreland Freezers and English Grill, Etta retired in 1982 as Deli Manager at Safeway Foods in Salisbury. With more time, she loved to fish and especially enjoyed Christmas and all the surrounding festivities. It was a grand affair at the Nottingham household. Etta loved being with her family and friends and trips out to eat and visit. She was active in her church, St. John's in Fruitland, making many sweet potato pies and working tirelessly in the kitchen. She always had an afghan ready to donate for their bazaar. Even with diminished vision as she aged, she would crochet endlessly for friends and family.

Etta was predeceased in 1993 by her loving husband of almost 53 years, Kirby Hood Nottingham.

She is survived by son James Nottingham (Barbara) of Salisbury, MD and daughter Brenda Daniel (Harry) of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren Michael Nottingham of Oxford, UK, Mark Nottingham (Anitra) of Melbourne, AU, Tommy Daniel (Adena) of Asheboro, NC and Laura Daniel Waldron (Jason) of Weatherford, Texas and six great-grandchildren.

A special thanks to Dickey Townsend who with his mother Angie, deceased, were steadfast friends to Etta during her later years. Also, for Etta's caring Salisbury neighbors and for the many loving caregivers at Crossroads Retirement Community.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Wicomico Memorial Park.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. To send condolences to the family, please visit
