John Dale Smack, Jr.

Berlin - John Dale Smack, Jr., 86, of here, departed this life on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury. Born in Berlin, he was the son of the late John Dale Smack, Sr. and Rosie Henry Smack.

Mr. Smack served in the United States Air Force. He was a bus contractor for 52 years.

He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, in Berlin, where he served as a member of the United Methodist Men and Men's Ministry and past Trustee. He was also a member of the American Legion Duncan Showell Post No. 231, Lily of the Valley Eastern Star No. 47, Town Council for Berlin, SHORE UP! Inc., and Board of Directors of the Berlin Heritage Foundation, Inc. He was a former member of the Booker T. Washington Lodge No. 87 F. & A.M. and past Detachment Commander of the Sons of the American Legion.

Loving memories will be cherished by: his wife, Leola Smack; a son, John Dale Smack III (Sheryl); two daughters, Velda Henry (Patrick) and Vonda Briddell; four grandchildren; one niece; several cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Kevin L. Smack.

Mr. Smack will lie in repose on Saturday, January 16, 2021, from 10 AM to 12 PM at First Baptist Church Family Life & Cultural Center, 528 Booth Street, Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 12 PM. Rev. Peggy Briggs will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery, 10543 Assateague Road, Berlin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John D. Smack, Jr. to: Duncan Showell SAL Squadron #231, 104 Showell Street, Berlin, MD 21811 or the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, 1324 Belmont Avenue, Suite 401, Salisbury, MD 21804.
