Salisbury - Louis Matthew Jones, 70, of here, departed this life on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Gilbert Jones and Alene Jones.

"Jewboy" and "Lefty," as he was affectionately called, served in the United States Army.

He was employed by the United States Postal Service and retired in 2013 after 32 years of service.

Mr. Jones attended First Baptist Church of Salisbury. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #145, Disabled American Veterans - Eastern Shore Chapter #34, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10159, and Military Order of the Cootie Pub Tent #27.

He will be lovingly remembered by: his wife of 37 years, Rev. Brenda Hughey-Jones; two daughters, Dr. Nicolé L. Gale and Lukisha M. Jones; a stepson, Thomas Corbin; five brothers, Wilbur Jones, Rick Jones, Keith Jones, Corey Jones, and Christopher Jones (Andrea); two sisters, Evelyn Jones-Kelley and Joyce Murray (Tyrone); two uncles, Journal Jones (Barbara) and Earl Jones; an aunt, Patricia Lenoir; two brothers-in-law, Tyrone Hughey (Lesa) and Kevin L. Byrd; three sisters-in-law, Sandra L. Hughey, Julia Hughey, and Denise Grant; 13 godchildren, Terrell Johnson, Maurice White, Ametra White, Nicole Bivens, Tiffany Brown, Trevon Maddox, David Thompson, Joshua Thompson, Brittany Holbrook, Valdez Harmon, Gary Tilghman, Bishop Allen Williams, Jr., and Desmond Smith; five special friends, Terrence Johnson, Douglas Bloodsworth, Ruben Gale, Colida Mae Johnson, and Marquita Bivens; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer "Cookie" Jones, and mother-in-law, Georgia Smith Hughey.

Mr. Jones will lie in repose on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at First Baptist Church, 528 Booth Street and Delaware Avenue, Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Rev. Dr. Lewis N. Watson will be the Officiating Pastor. Interment will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens, 27260 Ocean Gateway, Hebron.
