Martha Ellen Fulton Obituary
Martha Ellen Fulton

Snow Hill - Martha Ellen Fulton, 97, of Snow Hill, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 1, 2018 at her home. Born in Snow Hill, she was the daughter of the late Harold Edward Nock and Jennie Paradee Nock.

Martha was a 1937 graduate of Snow Hill High School and attended Salisbury State Teacher's College for two years before transferring to Goldy Beacon Business School in Wilmington, DE from which she graduated in 1941. She was a lifetime member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church and a 50 year plus member of the Worcester County Order of the Eastern Star, No. 102.

Upon graduation, she worked with her father and mother at Nock's Snow Hill Hatchery. She met her future husband at a World Poultry Congress meeting and after six years of dating, they were married on October 16, 1948.

She enjoyed traveling, caring for others, sometimes before taking care of herself, but her greatest joy came from her family and many friends. She and her late husband were big philanthrophers, always wanting to give back to the community where they lived, education was very near and dear to her heart, showing their commitment to the community by endowing the Fulton School of Liberal Arts at Salisbury University Fulton-Owen Hall, Workforce Development at Wor-Wic Community College, the YMCA and The Discovery Center in Pocomoke, the Charles and Martha Fulton Senior Center in Snow Hill, the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Wesley College in Dover, and the Snow Hill Christian Nursery School.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Jennie F. Owen and her husband, A.W. of Snow Hill; a grandson, Michael Owen and his wife, Rebecca of Midlothian, VA; a granddaughter, Lindsey Owen and her fiancé, Jack Xu of Charlotte, NC; a beloved great-grandson, August Owen; and many devoted caregivers.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles Robert Fulton in 2005.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Whatcoat United Methodist Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Whatcoat UMC Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Andy Frick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Snow Hill Christian Nursery School, 5434 Snow Hill Rd., Snow Hill, MD 21863, or the Whatcoat United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 272, Snow Hill, MD 21863.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, PA, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804. Please visit to express condolences to the family.
