Norma Lee Covey
Norma Lee Covey, formerly a longtime resident of Bridgeville, Delaware and Salisbury, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021. She was born on June 9, 1940 in Denton, MD, daughter of the late Walter and Hazel (Pippin) Murphy.
Norma Lee was a loving wife to Wm. Paul Covey, who passed away in 1981 after battling lung cancer. In addition to her parents, she was also pre-deceased by her siblings: Walter Murphy, Jr., William Murphy, and Betty Jane Lofland.
She is survived by her daughters: Linda Morris (Andrew) of Dunbarton, New Hampshire and Debbie O'Day (Roger) of Wade, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Andy (and fiancée Amanda), Heather (and fiancé Jeff), Greg, Roger Jr. (Regan), and Sara (Tyler); five great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Emerson, Calvin, Oakley, and Colin; and several nieces and nephews.
Norma Lee was a voracious reader and loved playing cards and board games. She was a Baltimore Orioles fan and greatly enjoyed attending minor league baseball games at the Delmarva Shorebirds stadium in Salisbury. Norma Lee also loved to travel, had been to many states, and visited Germany twice.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of The Gardens of Roseboro where Norma Lee resided for the past thirteen years and also to Community Home Care and Hospice of Clinton, NC.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no immediate funeral services. Norma Lee will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Bridgeville Cemetery, and a celebration of life is tentatively planned for early June. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, Bridgeville, DE.
