Salisbury - Rev. Philip Crockett Morris, 77, of Salisbury, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

Born April 3, 1941 in Crisfield, Maryland, he was a son of the late Ralph Leon and Sadie Crockett Morris.

He attended Crisfield schools and graduated from Crisfield High School, class of 1959. He graduated from Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee, class of 1963, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College, University of Tennessee Knoxville, and completed a Master of Arts in English Literature at Salisbury State College.

He was employed as an English instructor at Lee College from 1963-1965, and at Salisbury State from 1968-1971.

In 1969 he founded Walker Memorial Church of God in Princess Anne, Maryland and pastored there until 1982. Pastor Morris became a missionary educator in 1982 at European Bible Seminary in Rudersberg, Germany and developed Educational Extension Ministries there that expanded across Europe and parts of Africa. He later served as president of European Bible Seminary. In 1996 he came back to his home church, Crisfield Church of God, and pastored there until he retired in 2009.

Pastor Morris served as member of several boards for the Church of God in the Delmarva-DC region, and served as President of the Ministerial Associations in Princess Anne and Crisfield. He was also active in the Princess Anne Rotary and was Chaplain for the Crisfield Police Department.

Pastor Morris was a talented writer, contributing many articles to the Church of God "Evangel", and authored the following books: The Wadeing Place: A History of Princess Anne, Our Living Legacy: A History of the Delmarva-DC Churches of God, and Unchartered Waters: The Life & Ministry of Raymond E. Crowley.

He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, caring pastor and teacher, and devoted friend to many everywhere he served.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Smith Morris of Salisbury; two sons, Philip C. Morris, Jr. and wife Denise of Seiverville, Tennessee and Ralph A. Morris and wife Murielle of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, John Philip Morris, Hope Ashley Morris, Celine Marie Morris, and Jeremie Paul Morris; a niece, Mary Ruth Morris Stone and husband Lynn of Cleveland, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Wilmon Ashley Smith and wife Judy of Cleveland, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Martha Wong of Cleveland, Tennessee; several other nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Morris, Jr.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 1 PM at the Crisfield Church of God. Bishop Darrell Rice will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. John Thorne, Rev. Sterling Green, John Philip Morris, and Mary Ruth and Lynn Stone. A viewing will be Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station, Maryland.

A memorial service officiated by Rev. John Kalfayan will be held Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 5 PM at Crossroads Church of God, 708 Sharps Point Road, Fruitland, Maryland 21826.
