Smith Island - Reba Avalon Tyler, 68, of Ewell, Smith Island, died Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Crisfield on August 29, 1949, and raised on Smith Island, she was a daughter of the late Filmore B. and Mina A. Evans.

She was a graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1967 and was retired from the US Postal Service.

She was a member of Ewell United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW, and was a member of the Ewell Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Reba loved to cook, especially for family gatherings, and she enjoyed people. But most of all, her pride and joy was her family.

She is survived by three sons, Darrell Tyler and wife April of Marion, Dale Tyler and wife Janet of Ewell, and Deric Tyler and wife Bobbie Lynn of Crisfield; seven grandchildren, Adrienne Tyler and Brett Tyler, Lauren Lee and husband Bruce and Ashley Tyler, and Jaxon Tyler, Jett Tyler and Jemma Avalon Tyler; two great granddaughters, Mariah and Natalia Lee; a sister, Bonnie Austin and husband Sean of Newtown Square, PA; two brothers, Chelton Evans and wife Sandra of Salisbury and Filmore Evans, Jr. and wife Sheila of Crisfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Viewings will be Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 10-11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield, and from 7-9 PM at the church on Ewell.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2 PM at Ewell U. M. Church. Pastors Everett Landon and Jim Evans will officiate. Interment will follow in Ewell Church Cemetery. A special boat for funeral passengers "Chelsea Lane" will depart Somers Cove Marina Friday at 12 Noon and return following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ewell U. M. Church, Ewell, MD 21824.
