Seaford - Richard D. Donaway, 86 resident of Seaford, DE, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at his home after a long illness.

He was the beloved husband to Kaye Donaway for 39 years; devoted grandfather to Cathy Moorefield and her husband, Craig of Delmar, DE and Jerica Morris and her husband Chad of Millsboro, DE; loving great-grandfather to Charles (Drew) Moorefield of Greenwood, DE Christopher Moorefield of Delmar, DE and Reagan Morris of Millsboro, DE and great-great-grandfather to Conner Moorefield.

Mr. Donaway was born on June 14, 1931 the son of the late William and Bertie Donaway of Parsonsburg, MD. He was the loving brother to sisters Doris White of Parsonsburg and Anna Lewis of Rockville, MD and sisters-in-law Jayne McQuate and Sylvia Brohawn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Otis Donaway and Joshua Donaway; sisters, Evelyn Sutliffe and Charlotte Parrott; half sister, Mazie Waller and his beloved pet cat, "Little Fella".

The deceased was a U.S. Army Veteran and a lifetime member of the American Legion, Seaford, DE. Richard was also very proud to be affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated 28 years of sobriety on January 1, 2018.

He enjoyed NASCAR and was a devoted Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. Richard also liked to watch the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles. He was a "Chevy" man and had worked as a mechanic for many years prior to his retirement at Oliphant Chevrolet which became Bob Bell Chevrolet then Courtesy Chevrolet of Salisbury.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
