Thelma Winfree

Parsonsburg - Thelma Winfree, 75, of Parsonsburg, died on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Born on September 5, 1945 in Rainelle, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lowell and Leona Crane.

She worked for Tommy Tucker for many years before starting her own daycare in her home. Thelma cared for her grandchildren as well as many neighborhood children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Winfree, a daughter, Kathy Spedden and a brother, LD Crane.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Karen Downs; two grandchildren, Robbie Downs and his wife Kelsey and Brittany Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Lewis and Robert Wayne Downs; two sisters, Janice and Phyllis Crane as well as a compassionate caregiver and friend, Grace White.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Our deepest condolences to you and your family. I worked with Thelma at the Tupperware warehouse in Salisbury she was such a pleasure to work with. I know she will be deeply missed.

Thelma was a great person. I loved her and talked with her many days as we were friends as daycare providers. She lived her family more then anything. I'll miss her !
