Wilhelmina Jones Smith

Pittsville-Wilhelmina Jones Smith, 56, of Pittsville passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late William Louis Jones and Muriel Marie Teckentrupt Jones.

"Willie" was in the Maryland Army National Guard from 1982-2001. She was in the following units: 1229th Transportation Company of Crisfield, 200th Military Police Company of Salisbury, retired Headquarters Headquarters Company 115th Military Police Battalion of Salisbury. She also worked for Shore Transit from 2003-2011. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and white water canoeing.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Mindy Ruth Smith; sisters, Janet Smart (Donald) of Salisbury, Rebecca Whitley of Dover, Mary Insley (Harold) of Seaford, and her special sister and brother-in-law, Susanna and Steve Powell of Salisbury and Franzeskia Horner of Hurlock; two brothers, David Jones (Jeannette) of Quantico and Grantling Jones of Parsonsburg; several nieces and nephews, including, Christopher Powell and Cathy Justice; and the father of her daughter, Steven C. Smith of Salisbury.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Jones.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron. The Rev. Bill Nack will officiate.
