William David Stevens

Pocomoke City—William David Stevens, 83, died peacefully at home on February 14, 2013 after a long battle with leukemia. Born in Pocomoke City, on November 24, 1929, he was the son of the late James Elwood Stevens and Mollie Redden Stevens. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Ella M. Stevens.

David was a life-long grain and poultry farmer and was very active in community affairs. He was past president of the Pocomoke Jaycees, Pocomoke Lions Club and Pocomoke Ruritan Club and a vice-chairman of the Worcester County Planning and Zoning Board. He was also a member of the Salisbury Moose Lodge, Pocomoke Elks Lodge #1624 and Beaver Dam Presbyterian Church where he served several terms and an Elder.

Mr. Stevens is survived by two sisters, Ruth Jean Chaphe of Port Orange, Florida and Phyllis Kranicz and her husband Bruce of Malibu, California; son Dale Stevens and his wife Mary of Pocomoke City; three grandchildren Andrea Bryan and her husband Paul of Belleville, Michigan, George Stevens and his wife Kelly of Pocomoke, Natalie Soepnel and her husband Michael of Hanover, Maryland; four great-granddaughters, Abigail Bryan, Bridget, Josie and Maci Stevens; ten nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Monday, February 18, from 1:00 to 2:00 at Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke, where an Elks Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service officiated by Rev. Jeffery Howard. Family and friends will gather at the Pocomoke Elks Lodge following the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD, 21802.
