William "Bill" Edward Allen

POCOMOKE CITY—William "Bill" Edward Allen was the son of the late John and Maggie Hatton Allen. He was born on June 3, 1919, and passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Hartley Hal Nursing Home in Pocomoke City.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Louise Wise Allen, who passed on Sept. 21, 2012.

Bill was educated in the Accomack and Worcester County School systems. he even attended the Sturgis One-Room School. he continued his education through the veterans program. he was a World War II veteran. Bill was a mechanic and a car dealer in Pocomoke. He was well versed on political and current events. He chaffered and drove many people to out of town hospitals and doctor's appointments.

Bill joined Macedonia A.M.E. Church in Accomac, at an early age, then married and moved to Maryland, where he joined New Macedonia Baptist Church in Pocomoke.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Janice Allen Conquest and Rev. Recie Allen Marshall (Powell) of Stockton; one son, Herbert N. Brown of Snow Hill; one step-brother Walter Allen (Eloise) of Baltimore, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bill was preced in death by one sister, Margaret Allen McIntosh; one half-sister Jewell Jones; one half-brother Harry Hatton; and one step-brother Herbert Kellam.
