Charles Mueller Obituary
Charles J. Mueller

Delmar—Charles Mueller, 88, of Delmar died peacefully Friday, June 21, 2013, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. He was the son of immigrant parents, the late Henry and Margaret Mueller of Baltimore.

An example of "The Greatest Generation," he left the Architectural College of Baltimore to serve his country in World War II as a navigator in the Navy, earning the European Theater Ribbon With Star, Pacific Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal. After a brief stay at home working as a partner in Mueller's Family Restaurant in southwest Baltimore, he was recalled to serve aboard the ship USS Caperton from 1950=1953 during the Korean Conflict.

He maintained his love of the sea and outdoors, first building a fishing boat, then he became a partner in a hunting lodge, and later earned his airplane pilot's license. He started a family with his late wife, Betty Lou Boston of Baltimore, having children Sandra and Wayne. Later moving to Berlin, where he established a successful poultry farm. After 36 years his wife, Betty passed.

Charles was then blessed meeting, and subsequently marrying, Bonnie Sue Jones of Snow Hill. Sharing their love he and his wife of 25 years continued to enjoy the outdoors as boaters and avid fishermen. At age 80 they retired from the farm in Berlin and moved to Delmar and began a new pursuit of trailering. Loading up "Big Red," the new pickup, they would travel to Florida yearly. Charles received the Mason's 50-year certificate from the Germania Lodge in Baltimore. In addition to his loving wife Bonnie, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and John d'Eustachio of Cape Coral, Fla., and son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Elizabeth Mueller of Millsboro. Also surviving him are father-in-law Lee C. Jones, brother-in-law Bob Jones, stepson Chris Baumann and stepdaughter Cherie Dowell, all of Snow Hill; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park at 721 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the , 415 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21201.
