John FILTHUTH Obituary

FILTHUTH, John June 1st, 1948 - December 16th, 2015 With heavily burdened hearts we announce John's passing. He battled with the determination of a warrior these past ten months, overcoming many insurmountable obstacles. An avid outdoorsman, John found peace navigating the twists and turns of the Vedder river - wielding his fly rod with the eloquence of a bard. His genteel nature transcended into a deep love for the environment and all manner of creatures therein. By many he will be remembered for his renewable energy crusade. For others, his iconic "voice of lacrosse" will endlessly echo within the halls of the Ladner arena. To his family; John will always be a Led Zeppelin loving, film and car aficionado who frequently answered the door in his underwear. In everyone, his comforting chortle of a laugh will continue to resonate. Wife Maria, son Troy, daughter Jessica and extended family welcome friends and neighbours to attend requiem mass Saturday January 2nd at 11am in the courtyard chapel of Oceanview Cemetery, Burnaby. Coffee and tea will be served at the family home 1021 56A Street from 2-4pm. The family thank the community for their tremendous support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders. In the words of his fallen son Brandon: "For my family I will live on in my friends and for my friends I will live on in my family." We will love and miss you always.

"I am very sorry to hear of John's passing. I was honoured to know him! Very happy for all those nights we spent at Ladner Arena during the games but mostly after listening to all his stories"
