TOWERS, Marie-Louise Winifred Passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 after a long struggle with multiple health problems. She was born in Preston, Lancashire, England March 23rd, 1949 and came to Canada with her parents before starting school in Ladner. Father "Ted" was a fixture in the Ladner, BC community. Ted (Edward) Towers was from Churchtown, England. Her Mother, "Nicole" (Emillienne) Towers (nee Patout) was from Paris, France. Louise, as she was known to her friends, was a multi-talented woman. She was very musical and became a dancer, dancing professionally, and then later had her own studio and taught ballet, tap and jazz dancing for 13 years. She was a writer and wrote a series of stories called the Fur Chronicles. She also wrote and illustrated a children's book called "The Adventures of Ewenice - Ewenice makes a Friend. She loved dragons and Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern was her favourite series! Louise was a philomath by nature, always wanting to learn new things. She studied and developed the ability use sign language. She had a particular love and empathy for Deaf-Blind people. She was trained in Reflexology, Reiki, Massage and Polarity, and she taught courses in Contact Healing and ESP Lab. She worked with mentally and physically handicapped, as a Homemaker/Personal Care Attendant, as a Special Needs Worker, as a group home worker and as a night school Instructor. She was also a groom at the Standardbred track! Louise is probably most known for her love of animals - horses and small dogs and cats and anything that was fury or feathered. She was also artistic and left many adorable drawings of her many pets with almost human expressions. She was interested in, and drew, First-Nations portraits, rendering realistic renditions of her subjects. In her earlier years she adopted many rescue cats and dogs and in her later years she had a rescue Chihuahua, Jade, who was a certified Service Dog and her constant companion. She contributed financially to many rescue groups, the most recent and her favourite being Gray Muzzle Rescue. Predeceased by both her parents and being an only child Louise died with no family close-by, but with friends with her, and many local and distant friends communicating with her in her last days. Louise has several families of cousins in the UK, who will miss her communications and texts. As her mobility decreased, the internet and TV became her best friends - she watched all the talent programs and knew all the contestants, watched all the Nat Geo Vet programs, loved Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, and spent hours every day on Facebook talking to friends all over the world and playing fantasy games. Her many Facebook and other friends and acquaintances will miss her interesting ideas and conversations. At Louise's request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Gray Muzzle Rescue would be most appreciated.
