William SHKWAROK Obituary

SHKWAROK, William Michael On November 20, 2017, William Michael Shkwarok passed away at the age of 49 years. Remembered by his loving wife Katrina Elliot; his sister Dr. Marnie Shkwarok; his brother-in-law John Haley; his nephew Peter and Peter's girlfriend Jessica Donnan; Katrina's mom, Ishbel Elliot; his mother Mary; his sisters Dr. Joan Gatto (Leonard); Carolyn Latu and her sons, Spencer and William. Many extended family are also missing Bill. He was predeceased by his loving father William in 1995. Bill enjoyed history, music, trivia, the "Gift of Life" dragon boating team, spectator sports and sport statistics. A lifelong learner, reader, lover of nature and dogs, world traveler, and a commitment to the practice of law were other passions. Bill and Katrina's dogs, Hershe and Tsilhqot'in (Chilco) deeply miss their best playmate. Bill's quirky humour, gentle nature, sharp intellect and kind heart will be dearly missed by all. He fully embraced challenges including living with kidney disease from a young age. His strong but gentle will, work ethic and determination gave him the ability to beat the odds and make the best of every situation throughout his personal and professional life. Bill received his degree in Criminology from SFU in 1995 and his LLB from UVic in 2006. Prayers will be held at 6:30 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2017 and Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017 at St. Anthony's Parish, 2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver. A special thank you to organ donors as Bill received the gift of life twice. Thank you to nurses and physicians at BC Children's Hospital, St Paul's Transplant and Dialysis Units, Vancouver Community Dialysis Unit and East Vancouver Community Dialysis Unit. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to St Paul's Foundation, Hemodialysis Unit, 1081 Burrard Street, Unit #178, Vancouver, B.C. V6Z 1Y6. Dear Marnie and family,
Will be lighting a candle and praying with you virtually tonight. May you find comfort and peace knowing that you have been blessed to have such a wonderful brother and may he rest in eternal peace.

What a beautiful eulogy. I enjoyed his company on many occasions when he lived in West Kelowna. He will be missed by family, friends, colleagues and his 4 legged furry friends. RIP Bill.
