Marie Steffensen, 83, a resident of Deming, passed away Saturday November 10, 2012 at Willow Manor.
A memorial service will be this Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10 o'clock in the morning at St. Augustine's Anglican Church, with The Very Reverend Henry J. Hoffman officiating. Inurnment will follow at 1 o'clock at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.
Marie was born June 17, 1929 in Pierson, Michigan to John and Helen (Bernard) Durst. She has been a resident of Deming since 1976 having previously lived in Connersville, Indiana.
She was the original owner of the Honey Bun here in Deming and also worked at Farmers Grocery for many years. Marie enjoyed knitting and needlepoint and was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, James Gooding (Maureen) of Creve Coeur, IL, Roger Gooding (Susan) of Crystal, MI, Robert Gooding (Mary Lou) of Ionia, MI; her daughter, Mary Gooding of Deming; sister, Karen Baxter (Thomas) of Kentwood, MI; stepchildren, Lloyd Steffensen (Linda) of Rockford, MI, LuAnn Abelee (James) of Prosperity, SC; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by an infant son, Edmond Gooding, son John Gooding, stepson Larry Steffensen, her first husband, John Fitzgerald, second husband Darwin Steffensen, and by three brothers.
In lieu of flowers family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Augustine's Anglican Church, P.O. Box 2325, Deming, NM 88031.

I remember Marie so well. My mom loved her too!! The Honey Bun was our hang out. Mary, I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
