On Sunday December 30, 2012, Leonard P. Zumwalt Jr. entered into eternal rest in Deming, New Mexico.
At his request, there will only be a family memorial at a later date.
Leonard was born May 12, 1937 in Deming to Leonard and Bessie Zumwalt. He was loved by many and he never met a stranger.
He loved the outdoors and his family.
He is survived by his sisters, Carole Bennett of Deming, Vickie Zumwalt of Arizona; his children, Sheri and husband Steve of Idaho, Karen and husband Norman of Arizona, his sons, Tim Fitzhugh and wife Nancy of Arizona, and Darrell Zumwalt and wife Tracie of Nevada.
He was loved by nieces and nephews Kelli and husband Mike Ribbeck, Deanna Bennett and grandson Zackory Dimascio, Tara and husband Lonnie Arias, Cassie Arias, Kenny Bennett and wife Diana, Kathy and husband Jimmy Knight, Troy and Thelma Phillips, Verna Melendrez and Gordon Rooks; 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vera Rooks, brother, George Zumwalt, daughter, Debbie Zumwalt, and grandson, Ari Fitzhugh. He will be missed by us all.
