Piercy, Glenn
Washington DC: 63, Attorney, Certified Public Accountant and generous volunteer for philanthropic organizations, died from cancer on December 1 at the Washington Home Hospice, Washington DC. Mr. Piercy was born in Rochester and graduated from Rush Henrietta High School in Henrietta, New York. He earned a BA in Accounting from Duke University and a JD from Case Western Reserve Law School. Mr. Piercy lived and worked in Chicago for many years as a law partner with Schulman, Silverman & Kreiter and as Tax Manager with Arthur A. Andersen and Company. He moved from Chicago to Washington with his wife, Jan, and daughter Lissa 15 years ago when both joined the Clinton administration. From 1993 to 1995 he was Chief of Staff to the General Counsel of the US Department of Commerce. From 1995 to the present he has run his own practice, serving as estate and trust attorney to many clients. He was an active volunteer and board member of several charitable organizations in Washington DC and a lay minister of St. Columba's Episcopal Church. Mr. Piercy is survived by his wife Jan Piercy and his daughter Lissa Piercy, of Washington; his mother Carson Piercy, of Mitchellville, Maryland; his sister, Day Piercy, of Tarrytown, New York, and niece Lauren (Michael) McLaughlin of New York City as well as a loving extended family.
A memorial service will be held in Washington DC in January. Contributions in lieu of flowers and in his memory may be sent to Community Council for the Homeless at Friendship Place 4713 Wisconsin Ave., NW Washington, DC 20016 and to Youth & Children's Programs, St. Columba's Episcopal Church 4201 Albemarle Street, NW Washington, DC 20016.
