Myron C. Beal
Canandaigua - Myron C. Beal, D.O., December 20, 2020, at age 100. He is survived by five children, Rebecca (Keith) Johnson, M. Flint (Judy) Beal, Shelley (Peter) Rees, Julie Beal-Wilson and Christina (Richard) Bailey; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Gladys (Richard) Rustay. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Esther (Delong) Beal in 2014; son-in-law, James Wilson in 2010; and two brothers, Irving and Roger Beal. Dr. Beal had a distinguished career as an osteopathic physician in private practice in Rochester and as a faculty member at Michigan State University. His contributions to the osteopathic profession were many, serving on numerous professional and academic boards. An innovator in osteopathic techniques and a strong advocate for manual medicine, Dr. Beal was the recipient of many awards and honors including the A.T. Still Medallion of Honor from the American Academy of Osteopathy in 1995. Upon conclusion of his teaching career, he retired to Canandaigua Lake, where he enjoyed gardening and tennis while continuing to write, research and contribute to his profession. Dr. Beal instilled the values of education, helping others and a love of nature to his children and grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him. The family would like to extend special thanks to his caregivers for the excellent care and love he received. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Interment will be in Coye Cemetery, S. Bristol. Memorial contributions may be made to the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association, 493 S. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
