Pontera, Frank
Canandaigua: Frank Louis Pontera peacefully passed away on October 5th 2017 surrounded by his family. Frank was a long time resident of Canandaigua and held the honorary title of Mayor of Holiday Lane. Frank was an active member of the community and involved with several group activities. He is survived, and will be sorely missed, by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth, his four children, Michael (Lisa), Frank, Jr. (Debbie), Susan (Nick) Valvano, David (Rebecca), Grandchildren, Kelly and Michael Pontera, Ashley and Daniel Pontera, Michael and Christy Valvano, and David Joseph (DJ) and Jadon Pontera. Frank is also survived by his devoted brother and sister, James (Kathy) Pontera, and JoAnne Pontera Forbes of Miami, Florida.
Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 pm at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo Street, Canandaigua, NY, 14424. A mass will be held in celebration of Frank's life at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11:30 am. Internment immediately following the mass at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Frank's name to St. Mary's Church, Canandaigua, NY, 14424.

Frank will be forever in my heart, in my thoughts and prayers and in my life everyday. He was a part of my life as you all were for so very long. I pray for God to watch over him while he builds a home in heaven for Ruth...............whom he spoke of every day with such love...........such devotion........he will forever be an inspiration to me of what a true man, a true father and a true husband was meant to be...thank you Frank for blessing my life, thank you for the honor to care for you in your last precious years....may the love you shared with all around you live on within me as I care for people the rest of my life..........Watch over Ruth and the kids. Frank Pontera was a strong man who knew how to fight hard in any situation. He fought many difficult battles with his health over the years, and was stronger for it. Rest In Peace Mr. Pontera and know that your family has carried on your strength that you instilled in them.
