Williams, Eva Mae
(Mitchell)
Ontario: Died November 4th, 2017 at age 77. She is predeceased by her husband James B. Williams Sr., brothers Henry Mitchell & Joe L. Knotts, and sister Lula Mae Joseph. She leaves to cherish her precious memories; sons, James B. (Teresa) Williams Jr. & Joseph L. (Melanie) Williams; grandchildren, Austin, Allison, Tyson, Jessica, Katherine, Sereta, & Jasmine; special nephew Roosevelt (Diane) Grant, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was born May 4, 1940 in Mobile Alabama. She later moved to Sanford, Florida where she met and married James B. Williams Sr. They frequently traveled back and forth to upstate New York working as seasonal help harvesting produce for growers.
After several years they sought more stable jobs, James finding work with a construction company and Eva working in the home and as a housekeeper. During this time they lived very modestly and, at one point, in a 3 room dwelling with no running water or indoor bathroom. Eva had a strong faith in God and was always driven to give her family a better life; and with the help of Ray and Cornelia VandeVate, purchased an old farm house on the edge of an apple orchard in Ontario, New York. She was determined to make it a comfortable home for the family and always had a project underway. She was rarely at rest, spending most of her time caring for her family and others. When she did take a break it was to plant vegetable gardens, go fishing with "JB" or tend to her flowers and yard work. She enjoyed being a home-body.
She touched many lives with her kindness and giving ways for being such a home-body. She will surely be missed.
