Julie Rae Wittmis

Julie Rae Wittmis was called to her eternal home on June 1, 2021. Julie was born in Yankton, SD on October 15th, 1958. She spent her early years in Yankton, and then moved with her family to Rockford, IL. After graduating high school, she attended the Lutheran School of Evangelism in Wichita Falls Texas and returned to Rockford after finishing her education. She followed her family to Southern California in the early 1980's and ventured on her own to the Dallas area in the mid 90's.

Her work life was very eclectic, ranging from assembly line work to the financial sector to her final stop at Texas Woman's University in the Financial Aid Office. It was there that her passion for helping students who really needed assistance grew into a personal mission for her.

She lived a full and active life and had a heart of gold. She made friends easily and was loved by many.

Julie is survived by her father Rodney List, her sisters Tammy List and Cindy Hammerstrom and husband Kent. She is also leaves behind her niece Allie List and husband Tom; niece Shannon Hammerstrom and nephews Anders & Aaron Hammerstrom.

Julie's husband, the love of her life, Mike Wittmis preceded her in death last year. She is also survived by 3 step-children and 3 step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 5th at 4 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 703 North Elm Street, Denton, Texas 76201. It will also be available to watch on livestream at https://splcdenton.org/
