James "Jim" Lewis Napier III, a law student at University of Iowa, died unexpectedly on July 7, 2018 at the age of 31 while hiking in the Rocky Mountains he loved. Jim is survived by his father and step-mother, Dr. James Napier Jr. and Patty Cisle; his sister and brother-in-law Susan Napier and Alexander Berger; his grandmother Irene Napier; and his adoring niece and nephew. He is predeceased by his mother, Kristine Napier. Jim was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 26, 1987. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2010 and worked in technology before being called to law school. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hiking, backpacking, and skiing. While he was forever in search of new adventures, or simply the next peak to summit, he was also devoted to his extended family and friends. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00am on July 11, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2626 E 7th Ave Pkwy, Denver, CO.

You never think that when you google an ex boyfriend that you will find something like this. This is the worst news you could find, I´m so deeply sorry for the Napier family´s loss. Jim was my first boyfriend and finding someone as kind, patient, and generous as Jim in San Francisco was difficult to find. He is someone I think fondly often and am grateful for our relationship we had together. He taught me so much. I´m so sorry for this tragedy. I know he is looking down on us, I´ll keep you in my prayers.

I had the opportunity to know Jimmy' and his family while he attended Gilmour Academy as a child. My wife and I enjoyed sharing friendship with his mom and dad while watching he and his sister Susan mature through their early years. Jim was one of the brightest students I had the opportunity to teach. He was eager to learn, talkative and had a seriousness about life that was beyond his age. I shed a tear this afternoon remembering him as a boy and the brevity of the gift of life.
