Robert "Bob" Kivland Obituary
Robert "Bob" Kivland, 82, died of a heart attack on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Elizabeth, his wife of 57 years, was by his side in their Fort Collins, Colorado home. Bob was born at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. He was the first child of the late Emmett and Ethel Kivland. He was raised with his sister, Margaret "Peggy" Mistarz and his two brothers, the late Gerald and Thomas Kivland. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston where he met Elizabeth, his future wife. Bob was a member of the swim team and the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He completed his education at Northwestern University Dental School. In 1956 Bob joined the Air Force, married Elizabeth, and moved to Ramstein, Germany where he practiced dentistry. After his tour of duty, he settled in Lakewood, Colorado. Bob established his dental practice and later built a professional office building with several other dentists. He continued to practice dentistry in Lakewood until age 70. Throughout his career he was an active member of the American Dental Association. Bob was also a devoted and involved member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Bob and his wife traveled extensively and enjoyed skiing and biking in the Rocky Mountains. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Elizabeth Kivland; his three daughters, Kathleen Wade, Susan (Tom) Park, and Linda (Bill) Reilly; his five grandchildren, Kelli Park, Kristin Park, Kevin Park, Patrick Reilly, and Jack Reilly; his sister, Peggy (Bob) Mistarz, and his sister-in-law, Jana Kivland. Additionally, he is survived by many other loving relatives and close friends. He was a kind, caring, intelligent man with a great sense of humor. Bob's love and laughter will remain in the hearts and memories of all who knew him. He will be eternally loved. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, located at 9200 W. 10th Avenue in Lakewood, Colorado at 10:30AM on Monday, September 30th.
