Joan Christensen

1938 ~ 2016
One of the Lord's truly special angels was called to return home on July 1, 2016 she left her cancer ravaged body peacefully at her home in Provo, Utah. She was born May 20, 1938 in Tremonton, Utah the daughter of Orson Madds and Nina Larsen Christensen.
Joan graduated from Davis High School, attending Weber College, University of Utah and received her degree at BYU. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service while attending the U of U in Salt Lake City later moving to Provo. She worked at Utah Valley Regional Hospital until her retirement. She was active in the LDS Church and served a mission to the Western States Mission in Colorado Springs. She held various callings in the Relief Society, Primary, musical callings and a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Provo Temple. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served as secretary in the Provo Museum. Joan had many interests and passions primarily music, family history and appreciation for God's Creations.
She is survived by brothers: Larry (Susan), Orem, Utah; David (Nicole), Layton, Utah; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, nephew, grand-nephew and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer 2nd Ward, 450 N. 1220 W., Provo, Utah. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary, 500 North State Street, Orem, Utah and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Intermountain Home Care and Hospice and very special angelic friends who attended to and provided service on Joan's behalf.
