Carl Bown Obituary
Our beloved and cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away at the age of 87 surrounded by his family in Bountiful, Utah on May 1, 2016. Born May 8, 1928 in Manti, Utah to Clinton Arthur and Alta Mae Bean Bown. He graduated from Manti High School in 1947 and served an LDS Mission in Mexico City. He married Sharleen Frandsen in the Manti Temple on January 15, 1953 and 8 days later was sent to Korea for two years during the Korean War where he received the Bronze Star.
After the war, he and Sharleen moved to Provo, Utah where Carl graduated from BYU in 1955 and worked for the Farmers Home Administration. He retired as the Director 30 years later. His passion for real estate led to a 2nd career in Davis and Weber counties where he developed many commercial properties, then retired again in 1995.
Carl and Sharleen were married for 57 years. They had 6 children. Carl is survived by sons: Gary, Brent (Judy), Brian (Lisa), daughters: Lisa Gruendell (Kurt), Lauri Ostler (Jerry), 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his sister, Betty Lou Strobel of Washington. Preceded in death by his parents, older brother, Keith Bown, his beloved wife Sharleen and infant daughter, Sharlyn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Val Verda Stake Center on 2651 South 500 West, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may call on Saturday from 9:45 am - 10:45 am at the same location. Interment following the services will take place at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 E. Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Services under the direction of Lakeview Mortuary.

Wish I could be there to remember Uncle Carl with all of you. I always loved Uncle Carl and enjoyed picking cherries with him in their backyard. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Carl was my first supervisor with FmmHA when we worked in salt lake, davis and tooele counties. He was a great supervisor to work with. My condolence to the family
