Alan R Jensen 1952 ~ 2008 Alan R Jensen, 55, returned to his Heavenly home on Sat. January 12, 2008 from Smoot, Wyoming. He was taken in an avalanche while snowmobiling.He was born July 14, 1952, the fourth child and only son of Marven Don and Leone Richardson Jensen of Midvale, Utah. Alan was blessed with a playful, energetic, adventurous spirit, which carried him through his entire life. He developed his love of the outdoors through countless hours spent hunting and camping with his father. He was taught by example the value of hard work and integrity by his loving parents. He graduated from Hillcrest High School and four years of Seminary in 1970. The next two years of his life were spent in Phoenix, Arizona where he continued his education. Alan served a two-year mission in the New York, New York Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Alan married Kristine Neeley in the Salt Lake City Temple September 12, 1975. They were later divorced. To this union three children were born: Jeremiah Alan, Bryan Don and Jennilyn. In 1982 Alan was introduced to Star Valley, Wyoming and he never looked back. It was home for the next 25 years. He loved life and everything to do with the beauties of God's earth. His knowledge of the mountains and surrounding area was shared with many. Alan was a contractor by trade. His vision and craftsmanship is on display throughout the Star Valley, Wyoming area. On July 20, 1998 Alan and Shelly Wilkes were united in marriage. This union of friends gave to each so much joy. Alan and Shelly found pleasure in time spent with family, snowmobiling, camping, riding horses or their Harley and traveling to new places. Alan was an avid sports fan, a passion which he shared with his family. He possessed a dry whit and a great sense of humor which many found endearing. Alan was an active member of the Smoot Ward and served in many different capacities. He enjoyed the youth of Star Valley and had many friendships. He will be greatly missed by everyone. Alan is survived by his wife, Shelly Jensen of Smoot, WY; son Jeremiah (Jennie and Brodey) of West Jordan, UT; son Bryan (Melissa, Bryce and Brock) of Afton, WY; daughter Jennilyn Proulx (CJ) of West Jordan, UT; Elder Jaxon Wilkes currently serving in the Tampa Bay Florida Mission, Logan and Jessie Wilkes of Smoot, WY; Madison and Hailey also of Smoot, WY; Alan's mother, Leone Jensen and five sisters: Dianne Beutler, Marilyn (Lynn) Monson, Kristine (Paul) Monson, Marianne (Robert) Breitenbeker and Janice Jensen. Alan was preceded in death by his Father, Marven Don Jensen. Funeral services will be held on Wed. January 16, 2008 at 12 Noon in the Smoot LDS Ward Chapel, 3166 State Highway 241. Friends may call at the Schwab Mortuary, 44 E. 4th Ave, in Afton, WY on Tues. evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the ward chapel on Wednesday morning from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Burial in the Smoot City Cemetery.
