Dear Long Family,
You probably don't know me I went to school with Jason and found out about his passing from my mom. I am out on a mission right now and was sad to find it out. I played football with him for one year and never wanted to go up against him because he hit so hard. I can also remember playing a church basketball game against him and me and him going head to head during the game shooting 3 pointers. He would make one and then I would make one. Your son was a great athlete. But more important he was a great person. I am sure he is preaching the gospel on the other side.

I am a friend of Jason's Grandma Bonnie. I want you to know that in Bonnie's eyes, Jason was so very special. After reading the words from his friends, I can see that she was not exaggerating. You were blessed to have your Jason in your life. I know that he will always be with you, and his love for you will give you strength when you need it the most. My heart aches for you.And my prayers and thoughts are with you.

To The Long Family,
I want to let you know what an honor it was to know your son and work with him on and off the football field.
After attending the funeral I find there is a lot about Jason that I did not know. I know he was always so positive and friendly to everyone and I cannot remember ever seeing him without a smile on his face. Jason will be missed by many but his influence will last forever.

I got to know Jason fairly well in the middle of Pennsylvania just the last three months before he left. I was saddened then and even more now to learn of his passing. He was one of my favorite friends in the mission. Just a good guy all around. I was looking forward to seeing him on my return to BYU. Now I will have to wait. But I know I will see him again, someday. The last thing I remember doing with him, was wading through shin deep water filled streets in Sunbury during a severe storm. His laughter and smiles will not be forgotten.

Dear Long Family,
I was in several classes with Jason at Lone Peak and while we were never close friends I will always remember him as one of the kindest and most funny people I have had the chance of knowing. I'm so glad that I was able to know him. Your family is in my prayers.

Dear Long Family and Paige,
I attended the funeral earlier today. I was a CNA at Huntsman when Jason was admitted and worked with Jason until he went into remission. I know we all fell in love with Jason, but the funeral today made me realize who Jason really was. I left with an overwhelming feeling to be a better person because of Jason's example of a truely wonderful person. He is the most unselfish person I have ever met. Working with him changed my life. I remember waking him up at seven am and saying sorry for waking him and he was always so possitive even when I knew he was in pain and worn out. He always complimented me on how I made his bed and he would tell the other aids "just make it like shay does". I remember watching the MTV show Next with him and we would both anxiously wait for the decision. I remember him telling me about Paige before the first time she came down. When she came down he was so proud to introduce her to me. You two are beautiful together. Jason touched my life in a huge way in a small amount of time. I cannot wait to see him again. My prayers are with all of you.

Dear Long Family, our son Josh played football with Jason at Lone Peak and had nothing but respect for him. Josh is serving a mission and was saddened when he heard that Jason had returned home with serious health problems. Coach Morgan is in our ward and kept us updated on Jason so that we could keep our son Josh updated. Our son sends his sympathy and love to your family as do we. We pray that the Lord will sustain you and that you will feel his love for you. Your family is in our prayers and we hope you will know that we are thinking of you. May the Lord bless you. Love, Josh, Kevin, and Jan Dearing

Dear Long Family,
I have known and worked with Kevin and gotten to know a few of the family members over the years and I am very impressed with the spirit of your family. I am so sorry for your loss of Jason, but I know that he has truly served an honorable mission here on this earth and that Father in Heaven is welcoming him home to his arms. I pray that you will not only have the Lord's spirit to help you all through this sad time, but that all of us who work with and come in contact with you and your family can partake of the sweet spirit that you have. Jason's story is an inspiration to all young missionaries and their families. Knowing he kept serving everyone around him even during his illness is truly a lesson for each of us as we deal day to day with life challenges. God bless you all and we shall keep you in our prayers. Your friend, J Swain

Long Family,
May we convey our missionary son's sincere love for Elder Long as well as his sorrow for his family. Elder Tyler Cottrell was privileged to be MTC companions with Jason; Tyler will return from the Washington DC North Mission in October. He and three other missionaries who served in the MTC with Jason would like to come visit when they return to share pictures and memories. Thank you for your son's wonderful example of Christ-like service, of tender testimony, and of sincere friendship to our son and to the other Elders he studied with in the MTC. Our prayers are with your family and with Paige.

Dear Long Family,
You don't know us but we are familiar with Jason's story. Our mom/grandma Roma Ockler has kept us informed of Jason and his battle with Leukemia. Our boy Parker has been battling leukemia also. We were sad to hear the news this morning that Jason passed away. We can see that he was a handsome and honorable young man. We are sorry that his time with you on this earth was so short. We are sorry that his cancer story did not have a happy ending. We want you to know you will be in our thoughts and prayers. We will "Live Strong" in honor of Jason every day. God bless you.

As this exemplary young man continues his mission, may the memory of a life well-lived inspire his brothers, sisters and parents forever. If God ever intended families to be together forever, this is one such family. And Jason has given us all a good reason to hope and believe that eternal life is an "end zone we all one day can reach." Our prayers are with the Long family at this time of sorrow.
