We thank you for sharing such a wonderful young man with us in the Canada Edmonton mission. He was loved by missionaries and members alike . We enjoyed his sweet testimony of his Saviour , his ready sense of fun his devoted and energetic service. We loved him as one of our own sons . He was indeed a joy to know. My condolences to the Nelson family. I had the great privilege of knowing Nathan through high school and after his mission, and consider him a truly great friend. I am a better person for having been close to Nathan, as many others can claim as well. I will truly miss Nathan and his great friendship.

My heart aches when ever I think about what you have had to go through. Your words at the funeral were such a beautiful tribute to Nathan and a comfort for all attending. Listening to you and your thoughts and feelings brought back such fond memories of our ward experiences. I really do miss that association. It doesn't seem real to me to have one of my "sunbeams" gone and one married in the same week. I love you and admire your example.

Jim and family, I was very shocked to hear about the passing of your 23 year old son so suddenly. I would like to extend my condolences to you and your family. May the love, joy and memories of Nathan bring you all peace and comfort. I also believe it is comforting to know that Nathan was a very thoughtful and caring person, that he thought of others and how he could help them before his crossing over (and after). My heart goes out to all of the Nelson family, and to all that had been touched by him. Nathan was a great friend all throughout high school, he always had a positive outlook on life. The smiles and laughter never ended when being around him. Nathan will be truly missed.

I feel so priveledged to have known Nathan. He was one of my very best friends through high school. He seemed to always know how to make me laugh. Although he has moved onto a better place, I still think of him as a great friend and example, and know my life is better because if knowing him.

Frank and I met Nathan while he was serving his mission in Tofield.We loved him as if he was our own boy, he brought great joy and happiness into our home.Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. It is not the way Nathan died that will stay in our memories but the way he lived.

I knew Elder Nelson as a young missionary and remember looking up to him even then. He possessed true Christlike love; I know his short life touched many. While I express my deepest condolences, I know you can be proud of your remarkable son and look forward to a joyful reunion.

I was shocked to hear of Nathan's passing. He befriended me in 6th grade when I moved in and was the first to take time and teach me how to play basketball. I always looked up to him as a strong leader. My prayers go to you now. I've learned that the gospel of Jesus Christ does not take away feelings. Your pain may not leave you, but it will bring God closer to you.

Sorry I missed you after the funeral, but I did want you to know how sorry I am for your loss. I didn't know Nathan, but I know how close you were to him and how much he meant to all of you.
I can't help but think of my own kids and how hard this must be.

Nathan (Jamal) was a great friend, example, missionary and disciple of jesus christ. As a missionary I knew him as one of the most respected and loved missionaries in the mission. We all loved him and wanted to be around him. After the mission, we spent alot of time just enjoying life. Nathan had the wonderful quality of making life enjoyable for everyone around him. My life is better for having known him. I KNOW that we will all see him again very soon, and that our reunion will be wonderful! I cant wait to see him again. My condolences.

Christena, I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling. I remember meeting Nathan when he was about four years old at Joan's house. What a handsome boy! I was saddened to hear of the loss of Elder Nathan Nelson. I had met him in Edmonton a few times and he had an amazing testimony and love of the gospel which I was able to see. I met Elder Nelson when he served in Spruce Grove,AB Canada. He was one of many missionaries that helped me on my way to baptism. He was a wonderful young man and had a very kind soul which will live on forever. My prayers are with him, though he is now in a better place where I know that he will continue to share his wonderful testimony. Thank you for raising such a wonderful son, he touched my life even if only for a short time.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Elder Nelson...As news of Elder Nelson's passing has spread among his missionary commrades, we have reflected on how much we loved and repected him. Elder Nelson was an AP in our mission and was known by everyone. He was an example that we all tried to emulate. For us, he will always be remembered for his smart, quick-witted nature and for caring and encouraging us missionaries to work hard in our missionary efforts. I am truly grateful to have known Elder Nathan Nelson. I know he touched many lives in the Canada Edmonton Mission and we all know he will continue to work hard. My Name is Terry Brown. I do not know this family nor the young man who passed away but this obit for some reason really got my attention.
There is nothing really that i can say to change or make things go away. Just remember that your son not very long ago taught people about the restored Gospel which is sometimes referred to as the "Plan of Happines" and yes death is a part of that plan. God can't change law but what he did was provide a way for us to live again, to be with our family once again so he provided a way and made us a promise and so go forward with that knowledge....Memories are so beautiful, they can't be taken away...a poet once said God gave us memories so that we could have June roses in the December of our lives and certainly this is a decemeber in the life of this family but know that your son,brother cousin, friend, etc this is not the end for him for he has gone on to the next phase take the happy memories, the funny memories those sacred times and carry them with you into the next life...I know that in this trying time that you can feel the Saviors love about you and i pray for that for you.........
