Leland B. "Lee" Nielsen
"Master Craftsman"
Leland B Nielsen, 74, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Sunday October 7, 2012 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Lee was born April 26, 1938 to Joseph Burton and Ruby Freeman Nielsen in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He married the love of his life Carol Atkinson on June 1, 1956 and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage. It's not the man he was but, the way he touched all lives that came in contact with him. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he and Carol had the opportunity to serve two missions.
Lee is survived by his eternal companion, four children, CarolLee (Rick) Martinez, Janet (Joseph) Thackeray, Leland Wayne Nielsen and Karma (Myron) Perschon. He loved his 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one on the way. Siblings Janice (John) Kolan, Jay (Edna) Nielsen, Brent Nielsen, Kaye (Late Lee) Carlson, numerous nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Lee.
Preceded in death by his parents, baby grandson Martinez, and sister Geneal (Wayman) Winslow.

Dear Carol and Family
Surprise this is Renee Webb. I was shocked to see Lee's obituary in the paper. What great people you are. Remember working in the primary way back when. It was just a delight to work with you. Lee was so wonderful to come and help us with a block fence. It was fun to watch him work. He was a true artist. The last time we saw you was when our oldest boy was married. We now live in Sandy. Just wish we could have found you and had some fun times together. May our Heavenly Father bless you and your family. We send to you our sympathy and our love. Lee was a great man and Carol you are a great woman. Love, Dale and Renee Webb

Nielsen family we can do this!! If the lord didn't know we could handle this he wouldn't of given us this trial!!! We just need to all rally together tomorrow and Friday!! I love you all so much and I know grandpa did and still does and he is watching over us every day of our lives until we go home and help him watch over all the people we know and love!!! I know we all would be completly different people with out his amazing exzample in our lives and that he wants us to follow in his footsteps and also the saviors footsteps as well to the best of our abilities!!!
"I'm trying to be like grandpa"

"I'm trying to be like grandpa I'm following in his ways I'm trying to love as he did in all that I do and say at times I am tempted to make a wrong choice I try to listen as the still small voice whispers love one another as grandpa loved you try to show kindness in all that you do be gentle and loving in deed and in thought for these are the thing grandpa taught

I'm trying to love my neighbors I'm learing to serve my friends I watch for the day of gladness when grandpa will come again I try to remember the lessons he taught as the holy spirit enters into my thoughts saying love one another as grandpa loved you try to show kindness in all that you do be gentle and loving in deed and in though for these are the things grandpa taught!!"

Yellowstone, 1968 or '69. What fun we had together! I suppose we were a little crazy to take off with our combined passel of nine kids, but it was a trip never to be forgotten. I treasure the photos even though my camera and skills left a lot to be desired. Bears standing up next to our cars and sitting, waiting for Old Faithful to do it's thing.

Our little neighborhood in Sandy was such a wonderful place to raise our families. All the kids went from home to home as if it was their own, because they were all welcome. I have a picture of Jennifer taking her first steps, and Wayne was in the background, just as delighted as her siblings at the accomplishment. Thank you, Lee, Carol, Carolee, Janet, Wayne and Karma for the wonderful memories and everything we shared. Thank you for enriching our lives. May God bless you with comfort and peace in Lee's passing. Our love goes out to all your families.

Carol, Carol Lee, Janet, Wayne, & Karma.
I am so sorry for the passing of Lee, I want you to know I love you all and your families and am so grateful for all the happy times we spent together, and especially the trips to Nebraska. Lee was such a wonderful brother to me, and I will miss him terribly. He has been my calming force through the storms since my Lee has been gone. Every time I hear of or see a picture of the San Diego Temple, I think of Lee being able to help build that. What an honor for him. Lee had such a great influence on my life. He was my rock, and my calming through the storms since my Lee has gone. I find it so ironic that they were both named Lee and Lee is 11 months to the day older than my Lee, and they both died on Sunday conference days. My Lee in April and your Lee in October. I want you all to know how very much I appreciated all the hard work Lee did for Brent these past 13 years. If Lee hadn't worked so hard to help Brent qualify for Assisted Living these past two years, we would still be running to the hospital to have him stitched up. I so appreciate all his tender mercies to me and especially to Brent since Mom has gone. He was such a wonderful brothe to me, and I will miss him terribly. Every time I see a picture or hear of the San Diego Temple, I think of Lee privledged to work on that Temple. What an honor for him. I do not know of anyone who worked harder, or did a better job at what they did than Lee. I know Lee is up there with Dad, Mom, Geneal, Wayman, Leon, and Lee, and all the others and they are having the best time ever. My love and sympathies to all of you. I want all of you to know what an important part of my life you are, and always will be. I love you all. May Heavenly Father bless and comfort you and help you recall all the wonderful memories. Love, Kaye.

Carol, Carol Lee, Janet, Wayne, & Karma,
My heart goes out to you and your families in the passing of Lee. He was such a great guy, and I will miss him terribly. He was a wonderful brother to me, and I am thankful for all the wonderful times we shared as families, especially to Nebraska. If it had not been for Lee, Brent would not be safe in the nursing home now. He worked so very hard these past two years to help Brent get that help, and years and years of other tender, kind mercies did he give to Brent. I will forever be grateful to him for his tender care of Brent these past 13 years since Mom has been gone. You know, every time I see a picture or hear of the San Diego Temple, I think of Lee helping to build that beautiful edifice. What a great honor for Lee. I want to say I do not know of anyone who worked harder and did a great job at all he undertook more than Lee. I find it ironic that he was 11 months to the day older than my Lee and that my Lee died on Sunday, April Conference, and Lee died on Sunday, October conference. I am sure they are up there with Dad, Mom, Geneal, Wayman, and Leon, and all of our other relatives just having a ball. May Heavenly Father bless you all and give you peace and comfort, and help you to remember all the good times. My love and sympathies to all of you. Kaye. (ON THERE).
