Roberta Brown Obituary

Roberta Brown, 93, died peacefully Friday, September 14, 2012 at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines. She was born June 27, 1919 in Des Moines to Orange D. Rusher and Eliza Ann George. Roberta lived her entire life in Des Moines, working for over twenty years as a Teller for Valley National Bank and retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church, Toastmasters, The Shepard Center, and the Southside Senior Center. Roberta graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937 and was proud of her participation in the Lincoln Alumni Association.

She is survived by her son Kent (Linda) Brown of Garland, Texas; her daughter Donna (Michael) Resch of Des Moines; her sister Darlene Davis of West Des Moines; her grandchildren Jason (Amy) Levang and Jodi (Matt) Puls of Des Moines; her great-grandchildren Jake Levang, Sam Levang, Dani Puls, and Cooper Puls.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Fred W. Brown; her parents; her brothers Ray and Noel Rusher; her sisters Mae Holmes, Eva Wagner, Lelia Lewis, Colleen Swanson and Bada Aller.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St. in Des Moines, Wednesday, September 19th, with the funeral service at 12 p.m. The burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lincoln High School or your favorite charity.
