Herbert Fred Lessmann, Jr.

West Des Moines

Herbert F. Lessmann, 72, passed away November 14, 2012 at Mercy West Lakes. He was born July 1, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa to Herbert, Sr. and Mildred Lessmann. He graduated from East High School in 1959. Herb attended Grandview and Drake Universities, focusing on General Business Classes before founding Lessmann Marketing.

Herb enjoyed taking his boat out to Lake Okoboji, spending time with his wife, Julie and dog, Tessa, and cheering on the Hawkeyes. He was the best father, husband, grandfather and brother anyone could ask for.

Herb is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Julie of West Des Moines; daughters, Robin Lessmann of Des Moines, Nickie (Rod) Hughes of Bentonville, AR, and Angie (Paul) Sylling of Chanhassen, MN; five grandchildren; and sister, Marlene (Dave) Lehnherr of Tomahawk, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert, Sr. and Mildred Lessmann; and brother, Wayne Lessmann.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.
