Elden Ray Bucher

Elden Ray Bucher, 76, entered into eternal life on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012, at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 East First Street, Ankeny, IA 50021. Burial, with military honors, will be at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, IA.
Elden was born on September 27, 1936, in Worthington, MN, to Ferdinand and Elda (Chapman) Bucher. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. He married Joyce Smithyman on November 28, 1970, in Prairie Village, KS. Elden was employed with the Amoco Oil Company for 36 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, singing, reading, and spending time with his beloved granddaughter, Cayley.
Elden will be missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Joyce Bucher of Ankeny; daughter, Carole (Brad) Marcsisak of Des Moines; son, James (Kelly) Bucher of West Des Moines; granddaughter, Cayley Marcsisak; sisters, Evelyn Taylor of Worthington, MN, Norma (Don) Jepperson of Worthington, MN, and Ellen (Jim) McMurtry of Crescent City, CA; and his dog and best friend, Robbie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Elda Bucher.
