Dad was born August 3, 1918 in Blocktown, Alabama to James and Josephine Boston. Dad was one of seven children; the family moved to Iowa in 1923. Dad graduated from East High School, where he studied art and was awarded an art scholarship to the University of Iowa. In 1941, Dad married Eleanor DeVan, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born. Dad served in the Army and was deployed to Europe during WWII. Dad retired from General Motors in Buffalo, NY in 1980. Dad returned to live out his life in Des Moines in 2005.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and his beloved daughter, Mary Jo. He is survived by his daughters, Ellen Ann and Maria Jean (Larry); sons, Charles Alexander, Thomas Paul, and Calvin; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
"Family is the basis of our beginning and how we honor, respect and love those during their life cycles is golden". Therefore, there will be no services or memorial. For those who wish, please remember Dad in your hearts and prayers.
