Derek Gorden, 40, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lucas, Ia on Monday, February 24, 2014. Derek was born in Cedar Rapids, Ia where he lived until moving with his family to Urbandale, Ia. He attended Urbandale H.S.

Derek was employed as an auto-body/painter technician for several years in the Des Moines area.

Derek always had a passion for cars, including restoring them and attending many cars shows and Nascar races. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Those left to cherish Derek's memory , including his extended family are: wife,Carrie, parents; Judy & Lew Gorden; sisters: Britney (Monica) Gorden, Mesa, Az,

Kimm(Bruce) Miller, Urbandale, Ia., Stephanie (Brad)Parent, Lake Geneva, Wi.;children: Brenden Gorden & Eric Sims both of Chariton, Ia. daughter: Zoe Hogue, Indianola, Ia.

There will be a private celebration of Derek's life at a later time.
