Samuel Lipsman passed away peacefully on June 13, 2013, after a seven month battle with cancer. Sam, son of Victor and Zita Lipsman, was born on May 3, 1949, in Davenport, Iowa. He was a graduate of Princeton University and attended graduate studies at Yale University. He called himself an ABD - all but dissertation.

Sam is survived by his step-mother, Frances Lipsman, his loving sisters, Paulee Lipsman and Roberta Lipsman (Eric Wright), his nephews, Joshua and Doug Wright, and his great-niece, Harper Flinn.

The funeral will be held on 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tri City Jewish Center (Congregation Beth Israel) in Rock Island, Illinois or the .
