Windsor Heights - Barbara Jane Flanders, 64, died of heart disease on June 9th at home in Windsor Heights. A visitation will be held at Iles Westover Chapel on Thursday June 14th from 5-7PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Friday June 15th at 10:30AM. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery following the service.

Barbara was born November 25,1953 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. She was the youngest of four children born to Marston (Bud) and Jane Flanders. She retired from Principal Financial Group and provided care for her mother for 16 years. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Theresa Catholic School in the library as well as for the Church. She also volunteered for the Track and Field program at Dowling Catholic. When not busy raising her daughter and caring for her mother, she enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching, and jigsaw puzzles. She liked watching golf, ice skating, rugby, and track, if she wasn't already there with her stopwatch and timing sheet. She also enjoyed spending time with her daughter and her dog, Pinky.

As a young woman Barbara loved gymnastics, singing, playing rugby and watching Hawkeye football. She was devoted to her family and her faith. She enjoyed being outdoors and helping out where she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law, Francis Riesenberg. Barbara is survived, by her daughter Renee Flanders, her sister Ann Riesenberg, her two brothers Sean and Mark (Barb) Flanders, her four nieces, two nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.

Barbara's family would like to express their gratitude to her neighbors who were so helpful to her during her health challenges.
