Johnston - Betty J Baker, 95, died February 3, 2018, at home surrounded by her family and friends in Johnston, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 @ 2:00PM (with visitation at 1:00PM) at Brooks South Town Chapel with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

She was born August 23, 1922, in Rockwell City, Iowa to John and Eva Ulrich. She had 5 brothers and 7 sisters of which she was the youngest sister and the last surviving sibling.

Her interests included baking and cooking for everyone (known for her meatballs and pies), watching the Hawkeyes, going to the fair even at 95 which always included concerts at the grandstand. She enjoyed her weekly ritual of going to Donna's Hairs Creation for as long as any of us can remember. She loved her family, especially holding the babies.

Betty is survived by 7 grandchildren (Kenneth Knode of Des Moines, IA, Paul Knode of Des Moines, IA, Cindy Fisher of Johnston, IA, David Yates of Cedar Rapids, IA, Michelle Lane of Knoxville, IA, Michael Yates of Lovilia, IA, James Yates of Albia, IA), 13 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Baker, daughters Karen Yates and Sharon Knode, son, Lloyd Baker, grandson, Francis Knode, Jr. and great granddaughter Sidney Julia Marsh.
